Work
We have been extremely fortunate to work with and know some incredibly talented and ambitious people. Rarely have we found that any of these people—most of whom society would consider “successful”—have figured it all out. In fact, many of them often feel like they are not fully operating in their “Zone of Genius”—at that place where excellence meets passion—because they are distracted with the mental overload of all the things they need to get done at work and at home. Meanwhile, they often feel like their work lives are in constant tension with their personal lives, that they want more time with their families and friends, and more time for themselves.
We wanted more for them. So, we wondered: why do they feel this way—and what can we do about it?
Mission People is our answer to that question.
Life
Our vision is to show the world's doers and makers, creators and visionaries, entrepreneurs and executives that the work they are passionate about does not have to come at the price of a life they love.
Our society's answer to this problem is to find "work-life balance", but for ambitious people who thrive in their work, this framing leads to tremendous feelings of guilt and inadequacy. We believe there’s not a fundamental tension between work life and home life. Instead, it’s time to imagine a different world and a different set of possibilities.
What's needed is a change of mindset. Mission People was created to help people make that mind-shift and realize what’s possible.
Passion
So, we threw the idea of work-life balance out the window. Instead, we believe in work-life passion. Work-life passion means you can derive fulfillment and enjoyment from both work and life.
We view Mission People as, first and foremost, a way to inspire people to live happier, more fulfilling lives by showing them what is possible if they restyle the way they manage their work and home lives. We place a particular emphasis on home life because that is the place that is most often neglected by busy people, but we know that both are equally important.
Most importantly, we envision a world filled with work-life passion, where more leaders are living happy and fulfilling lives while doing amazing and inspiring work.
